a email I got at work re: an all female Joe Jackson tribute cd

Hello everybody at KFOG:

Just a quick email to let everyone in the radio world know that the official release date for our label's fourth compilation, "Different for Girls: Women Artists and Female-Fronted Bands Cover Joe Jackson," will be September 28.

This compilation is currently being promoted on the official Joe Jackson website www.joejackson.com and, in fact, Mr. Jackson himself has said: "I LOVE the idea of an all-female tribute album! Let them know I can't wait to hear it."

If you would like to preview the disc, we recently posted one-minute mp3 samples of all the songs on our website:

If you get a chance to listen to them, I'd really appreciate your feedback.

This compilation contains tracks from Mary Lee's Corvette (4 stars in Rolling Stone for their cover of Bob Dylan's "Blood on the Tracks" album) and Essra Mohawk, whose 1971 "Primordial Lovers" was named one of the "top 25 all-time albums" in a 1977 Rolling Stone review.

The CD also features liner notes by Joy Askew, whose album credits include Jackson's Big World (backing vocals), Live 1980/86 (keyboards, vocals, percussion), Blaze of Glory (keyboards, vocals), Laughter & Lust (keyboards, vocals), and Heaven & Hell (vocals).

  1. Sounds like a great CD since I'm a huge fan of Joe Jackson. Has it played on KFOG yet?
