I won't be voting for Obama since I live in California and it is a dead dog lock to go Obama over McCain. Really my vote doesn't matter at all.
So I can vote for Bob Barr who will surely lose, but that's where my vote is headed because it its the party that really represents what I think. Not of course that you should give a crap what I think. I (pardon me for being so bold) don't really give a crap what you think, so I hope we're even!
I really do see that Obama brings lots of hope to lots of people. Hope for, yes a change, and better times. It really reminds me of what Reagan offered people. Of course it is a different group of people. I don't mind this huge group of people having hope for a better future.
Now of course it is a different deal if he can deliver. I don't think so, but I don't really give a s**t. Whatever people. Politicians always let me down no matter what.
I don't read any of the political stuff on the web and avoid it if at all possible in all media. People send me all kinds of links and s**t. I just instantly delete it. I've been so happy the last few months! :)
I'm glad people are passionate I guess I'm just not one of them.
In the end we are all in this together and everybody seems to have bought in to the "if it's not our side then it sucks" club. It is like sports fans saying "Yankees Suck" I mean that's fine in sports because it is meaningless, but nobody in election discussions seems to ever-ever-ever say anything except -those- guys are going to DESTROY our country. Then you whip your side into believing that and when you lose you just get pissed off for 4 years.
The winning side bumbles around and stumbles around until the next election when it all happens over again.
It is like crabs trying to get out of a bucket and when one reaches the top the others pull him back in.
This is a great country full of optimism and hope and diversity. Except during the presidential election season when we all get tossed into a pit and are convinced to fling rotten tomatoes at each other.
It boggles the mind how much we could do if we didn't spend so much time involved in "You Suck." The internet makes it easy and that makes it worse, and the "make fun of" mix with the "Yosemite Sam" foot stompin' yelling and screaming makes for a noise level where nothing much gets heard over the din.
It is a crazy time in the world, it won't be easy for the new guy. S**t is bound to happen.
Living in the United States of America is about as good as it gets in the world right now. And "right now" is as good as it has ever been in the history of the world.
This is too big for a bumper sticker or a t-shirt, but I try to remember:
Be optimistic. Be grateful. Be humble. Be able to listen. Be able to understand. Be open to some other view. I know it hardly seems possible but you and I might be wrong. One day we might change our minds! The hardest part of tolerance is being tolerant.
Fight like a summabitch for what you believe in. And fight like a summabitch for others to believe what they believe in.
Avoid all the haters on all sides.
Hot tip: when a friend starts talking politics say something like "I agree with you, you're right." Most of the time they want to have a (long) back and forth, when you agree with everything they say it puts an end to it pretty quick!
I wish the winner and winners luck, but f**k everybody and their fake promises and lies they have to tell to get elected. I don't expect much from either side if they win, but I'm supporting them and our country.
So I'm voting for a sure loser for prez.
How about those Cali props?
Easy call for me.
Yes on 4
No on everything else.
Especially that f***ing train. WTF? People don't even ride Amtrak enough to pay for it without taxpayer support and um last time I checked out here in the Golden State we could use a little more gold. We're deep into the red because the gubberment spends millions on stupid s**t like a dumb ass high speed train.
If it is a good idea let somebody build it, and make dollar dollar bills y'all. That's fine with me.
Gay Marriage? Fine with me.
But.
I DO understand the churches point of view. Not the gay people are evil part, but the marriage is for procreation part and that is what defines marriage as different than just civil partners. Ok I get that. But that is what they might teach and believe and I even buy into that a little.
But now in 2008 this gay marriage thing seems like a red tape paperwork deal. It makes the bureaucracy of living together easier if they can be "married" just like everybody else. And they want to let each other and the world know they are making that commitment. Fine with me. If a church doesn't want to marry them, that's fine with me too.
I wish I could vote against Norman LaForce on the East Bay Regional Park board. What a turd!
Tuesday night I'll say a prayer for the new president and the country.
Saturday I go hunting. My buddy is out in Wyoming hunting elk. Boo hoo for me that I'm not there, but I'll bag a few birds if things go ok this weekend.
But I'm not a bible and gun clinging bitter American, really I'm not!
Just ask me and you'll see!
So go vote or not. If your guy wins I hope things go well. If your guy doesn't win I hope you SHUT THE F**K UP for 4 years!
