Yet another Clear Lake post

I had this trip planned for a few months. Saturday was a full moon so I thought it would be fun to do a dual sport (street legal bikes that are set up to do off road trails) ride on the dirt roads that run across the south west part of the Mendocino National forest.

It ended up as a 3 bike ride and we ran about 50 miles of dirt and about 40 of that was in the dark under the moon. I'll have a big link filled story on my KFOG page soon.

Where did we go? Try searching for these places (add Lake County or Mendocino National forest if the results don't look right) Bartlett Springs, Twin Valley road, Bear Creek campground, Crabtree hot springs. That's a good start.

Here is a shot of the moon rise happening just as the sun was setting. These colors aren't part of a digital camera error. It really looked like that. Big bands of color across the sky, but just for a few minutes. It's a great shot! Soon after this the sun was gone and we were riding trails at night. Big fun.
