A couple of quick things:
Those tamales were great but they take forever to make. A good idea? A tamale party, and assembly line, some sangria. It would go much quicker and be much more fun.
The 3 day weekend was a good one. We had a heatwave and got to go hop in the pool. Last night it was thunder and lightning and hail.
I saw Spellbound not Hitchcock, but a movie about the National Spelling Bee. They follow 8 kids who make it to the finals. It is a great movie, bring the kids and you'll love this film. Here is a trailer for it Spellbound
Football starts this weekend. God I love football.
Finally a couple of nutty things spotted on Usenet. Good old Usenet. Remember when we had to have a 4 line sig to keep down internet bandwidth? Caveman times...
Anyway there is a ba. section of Usenet for Bay Area users and topics. I read two of them ba.broadcasting, most of it is full of political debates and discussion of KGO, and ba.motorcycles, most of it is full of street riding stories. We all know there is some nutty stuff posted on Usenet groups. I read a thread on ba.motorcycles that had some good ones.
"I would think that most everyone would understand that the correlation between speed limits and safety is nominal at best."
nominal?
"In short, I would prefer to be on the road with drunk people who really know how to drive, than being on the road with the average sober Californian,"
hmm
"Related to this, last weekend I was again reminded of how bad the drivers
here can be, as four of us European Ducatisti were riding up in Mendocino
and Napa. A few times during this 550 miles ride we passed on double
yellow..."
All the from the same guy. He likes to go really fast, pass over double yellow, and share the road with drunks. I don't hang out with these kind of riders.
Here is the thread
