105 post Stern: Morning Music Co Op and The Quiz

I've seen the master plan. Well I've see what they are sending out to advertisers.

It looks like the audience will have lots of input even on the air doing reviews and covering everything from movies, music, fashion, and political activism. The "input" part will be on and off the air. Sounds like they are almost looking for good podcasters to come onboard to provide content as well as callers and anybody else. Kind of like Stern, with different content, music not strippers. It almost sounds like it will be a hosted public access radio show.

It could either be a brilliant locally energized creative show, or it'll sound like an audio version of Wayne's World. "dude that movie was excellent, and now another band you've never heard of..."

Who knows if it will draw listeners. It is really hard to start a new morning show, maybe the toughest thing in radio.

I think a lot depends on the host. (Doesn't it always?)

They have no host named as of now and say they are in the final negotiations and will announce one soon, and I have no rumors to pass on. Will they promote somebody already on the air or bring in somebody? Dunno. I do know somebody way up on pop culture, great with listeners, and who has enough radio background to carry a show if the guests all suck. That's right I'll say it again, Steve Masters.

But hey I've been a PD exactly 0 days in my radio days so what do I know.

Much speculation in the local radio world (not based on any facts) about the Doghouse am show. (who will not be the morning show at 106.9 when Carolla starts in Jan.) Where will they go?

Locally Infinity will have the Alice am show, The Doghouse, and a new show with no hosts mentioned on 105 (No Name's old home base) How will it all fit together in 06?

The Quiz

So last night on the 7pm KFOG Quiz I asked a question about Fermat's last theorem. It was the anniversary of it being proved in 1994. I am sure the new 106.9 was talking about bangin' chicks and getting wasted. Heh.

  1. It's funny, because that day, on 106.9, they were discussing Keppler v. Copernicus....and then a randy discourse about the writing of Sir Richard Francis Burton (how much did his wife actually pen?)
