When the cameras finally went dark after a 10-hour day, nothing magical happened. Each tipsy contestant was driven home by a personal assistant. Tim, who told me he went on the show more for fun than for love, jotted down the telephone number of the woman who survived.



'I'm definitely going to call her,' he told me the next day on the telephone. 'I just don't know when.'
