NYC's New No.1 Morning Show is Spanish beats Stern 8.0 to 5.9

The Spanish-speaking WSKQ (Mega 97.9) El Vacilon De La Manana morning show claimed the coveted No.1 morning show title in New York City in the just-released Fall Arbitron. Hosted byLuis Jimenez and Moonshadow, it marks the first time that a Spanish-language morning show has been the top-rated show in NYC. El Vacilon De La Manana moved 6.5 - 8.0, knocking The Howard Stern Show(5.9, down from 6.9) out of the No.1 slot. Stern dropped to third behind stalwart News outlet WINS-AM (6.9).

'Stern wants to shock people [and] I want to make people laugh - not make fun of someone whose head is too little,' Jimenez told the NewYork Post. 'Stern may say, 'Well, it's a different audience or language,' but 85 percent of our listeners are bilingual and they could go anywhere they want - any Anglo station.' Jimenez was a little more conciliatory when talking to the Daily News, saying: 'There's only one Howard. It feels good to finish ahead of him because he's the best. That's what you aim for.'
