Many many kudos to the Project for Excellence in Journalism (PEJ). In a study funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts, the Columbia University-affiliated group offers a 'comprehensive look each year at the state of American journalism.' The first report -- 500 pages long -- is officially released Monday. It is called The State of the News Media 2004, and today's posts will focus exclusively on it.
