salmon and a shark fishing wid Rick

really really busy with stuff in June and July, some good some not, but got to go fishing for salmon out the Golden Gate Sunday.

Lots of fun, lots of fish and a Thresher Shark about 6 ft long. The big salmon was over 30#'s. The dock planks it is laying on are 6 inches wide, so the fish measured about 3 1/2 x 1 feet. No I didn't catch that one, but we had limits (2 each) of salmon by 11 am.

More details later this week. If you've never been you oughta go. Here is how to do it. Another link is here it covers fishing in Monterey Bay. A great trip as well. You can go on a party boat and let them do all the work for you. It costs about 65 to 75 dollars per person for the day. You can use their gear if you don't have your own. The links make it sound a little complicated, it's not. Now until the end of September is a good time to go.

The fish, birds, sea lions and more are worth the trip. Sunday we had an extra bonus of seeing pilot whales off the stern of the boat. The sight of coming back in the Golden Gate in early afternoon is a really special thing to do. You come out of this overcast blanket of fog into a really beautiful bay filled with sunshine and blue skies. No matter how many times I see it it is always stunning.

The Shark! (we put him back in the ocean)

The "regular size" salmon
