Scott Peterson

I'm just watching these people on Fox News (Greta's show) and Court TV (pick one) talking about the San Francisco bay. Thought I'd chime in here. I don't know if he did it or not, it is just that some of the things I hear are wrong. So here we go.

1. People do use boats that small on the bay. They even go out the Gate when the weather is good in boats like that. Not a lot but some.

2. You can catch sturgeon on a boat like that. I haven't heard it admitted that he said he was fishing for sturgeon, I heard someone say he told the cops he didn't know what he was fishing for. Well in the bay you never really know what you are going to catch. A lepoard shark, a striped bass, perch, halibut, a ray or skate. You wouldn't go sturgeon fishing in a boat like that, but you might catch one. Last weekend I caught a Thresher Shark. I was fishing for salmon. Normally small boats like that are fishing for perch or small bass on the bay.

3. News people check it out. Go to the Berkeley launch ramp, or better yet the Richmond launch ramp and see what boats go in the water. Big, small, kayak's, everything.

4. Catherine Crier on Court TV said ..."well I don't know how deep it is there..." gee that's a pretty simple thing to find out. It's not very. That is why sailboats don't run along the shoreline near Richmond and Berkeley. That's why little boats like Scott's do.

5. People call it the ocean and the bay. It's a bay. The difference is pretty major.

6. The search in the bay. Anyone who looks for a pregnant woman's body and 4 concrete anchors with a common $200.00 fish finder and spends time doing it would find something that big. Or else it would be a damn crappy fishfinder. Those things are amazing. Well what if it was in the mud? They can find things in the mud. They will actually show you a different picture of the bottom when the sonar reflects off a sandy muddy soft bottom or a hard bottom. A body in the mud would be a big lump on the screen even in the mud. And if you remember they did find some stuff they dug up in the bay mud.

Those fish finders can find little fish, a body is no problem. If it was there they should have found it.

Unless...

7. The tides and storms washed it away. Maybe. Problem is the storms wash away and reveal stuff as well. What were the tides like? What are the currents of the bay like? Hmm if only there was a model of the bay. Some kind of big bay model you could look at to see what the currents and tides might do...

Well there is! It is called "The Bay Model!" It is in Sausalito and is very cool. Seen it on the news? No me neither. Would it show currents in the bay? Why yes that is exactly what it does!

8. Those anchors Scott made out of concrete are not bay boat anchors. Maybe for a little pond somewhere they would work, but an anchor has flukes. Here is an article about anchors, tells you all you need to know.

So did he do it? I dunno. I just know a little about the bay and the water and see some big holes in the talking heads on tv "I don't know how deep it is there but..." that make them look stupid.

Did he do it? I don't know, those phone calls, and that stuff in the car don't look too good.
