Tour De France has been a little

boring so far. The long flat legs early on were kind of follow the leader. But now they are in the mountain stages, and if the weather is good the helicopter shots of the climbs, the countryside and mountain peaks will be awesome. In these stages there is as much appeal for me in the long sweping shots of the landscape as the bike race.

The race is on every day on OLN and they repeat it all day and at night. If you are flipping around this weekend have a look. This is the time to watch. OLN has some great announcers covering the race.

The "Lance" all the time gets a little old, he is on the race coverage and it seems in every commercial. Don't get me wrong I am a big fan, I think Lance and Carl Lewis are 2 of the best American athletes of my time. The Nike spots with Lance are great. It is just when you watch the race in the morning and the replay at night, it gets to be a little much. But the OLN announcers don't make it a USA thing, they cover and know about the rest of the riders as well. None of those cheesy "background" segments like the Olympics broadcast always have.

For some reason OLN promos are calling their coverage "The Cyclism" in these annoying weird end of the world promos for the Tour. "The Cyclism is coming" with some guy acting like he is in a B movie with a cheesy storm cloud and lightning backdrop, man is it stupid. Why rename the Tour De France? Why call it something else? Everbody knows the Tour, WTF is The Cyclism? Anybody else agree on this?

Maybe when I retire I'll be a media consultant and charge people thousands to tell them they have a stupid idea. This time it is free.

Bike racing. Beautiful countryside. Men in tight pants (if that's your thing). Big Rick says Check It Out:
