It's funny who I root for, of course the local teams, I grew up in the SF Bay Area and all these teams have always been been my teams. But then there are the others.
I used to work for a guy who liked the Atlanta Braves. So I root for them. A guy at KFOG is a big Red Sox fan, so I have been rooting for them the past few years. And the former web guy at KFOG, now at Live 105 (I think) is a really nice guy who is a Green Bay Packer fan, so I root for them.
It doesn't always work that way, worked for a Cowboy fan, couldn't root for them, nice guy but I just didn't like his team. And any Yankee or NYC team fan, bleh, I could never. Well maybe the NYC Giants. A former Live 105 co worker was a fan so...
But sometimes for whatever reason I become a fan of some odd out of town team.
This am I was watching the morning after ESPN coverage of the Sox. It was pretty good. I didn't watch it last night. It was over by the time I got home, and I always tape Mythbusters and stay up late to watch the World Poker Tour, 2 of my favorite shows of the week.
ESPN put together this little highlite clip with Tom Petty "The Waiting (is the hardest part)". Nice but... I'm sure that was the first song that popped into their head. Maybe they should have thought a little longer and played maybe a BOSTON band!?
Like...Boston? Aerosmith? (Sweet Emotion would have been good) J. Geils "Houseparty" and hey there is alot more. And ESPN is in the greater New England area. Oh well.
I saw an article in the SJ Merc (good paper) on the next cursed team in MLB. Let's hope it doesn't catch on in the big sports media. It's your San Francisco Giants. Read about Curse of the Barber at the Merc.
How about that Johnny Damon? Boo freakin' Ya home run to lead off the game. Just like Ricky would have done.
