Movies and SNL cast in movies and Sa-Da-Tay!

I've been hanging out at Clear Lake on weekends, working on Rancho Ricardo (the work is almost done) and busting butt until nightfall then watching movies up there. Here's what I've watched.

The Thing man John Carpenter is THE MAN. Has he ever made a bad movie? NO NEVER! ALL WORSHIP HIM! I've seen this many times, and the whole ice station, freak, monster in hiding still gets me. The sound work and monsters are very well done. The bonus part of the dvd gets into a lot of detail on how the scenes were created.

Westworld an early Michael Crichton movie (written and directed). It is a simple idea, and a good movie with a long ending. The modern world gone bad. Must have a been a Unibomber favorite. Well except he was too retro and busy trying to kill people to watch it. Yul Brenner awesome.

Serpico a 1973 Al Pacino cop movie. Lument directed. Not as good as I remembered, but a good watch if only to look at 70's NYC and fashion. Far Out Man. Al is of course great.

Frank Serpico has his own web page here.

On Dish Network I saw Spiderman 2 It was good, I liked the story a lot, not too much action, but that was ok. Sometime I'll write about how being in radio on the air is like being Spiderman. But not now. Toby Maguire is good in everything I've seen.

Another favorite of mine is Johnny Depp. I saw him in a Stephen King film called Secret Window A disturbed writer living in the woods pestered by a fan. (Gee where did King get that concept?!) I hadn't heard of it before but it was some good stuff. Depp was funny and creepy at the same time. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory should be good.

Meanwhile I saw this about current and former cast members of Saturday Night Live and their movies:

Chris Rock quote from the article:

"I'm looking at some of the most overrated people in the history of
comedy," Rock said at the 25th anniversary special of "Saturday Night
Live." "Some of the worst movies ever made were made by people in this
room."

Pretty much true Chris but I did like CB4 and Pootie Tang Yes I liked it and to prove it I'm gonna sign yo pity on the runny kine. Sa-da-tay! trailer
