Holy Crap! Web is Back! WEB Fingers takes over mornings on MAX-FM

first seen at BARB

Holy Crap Web is coming back to town!

Last I heard he was living in the Grand Cayman islands working on some internet station.

Can Web get up that early and do his thing? Maybe? MAX ought to get him on a Red Bull drip starting about 5 am!

A shocker!

Web followed me on the air at Live 105. He replaced the equally nutty Steve Masters. Everybody loved Web. I think.

Of many Web stories here's one.

Remember Alanis Morissette's "Ironic"? The part of the song where she sang the chorus with the line "Who would’ve thought... it figures"

So at that time we played it alot. Web was in a band called Insecto so he hung out in a recording stuido sometimes.

So he gets a female vocalist to sing along to the "Who would’ve thought... it figures" part. She sings "Who would have thought Web Fingers?" and Web mixes them both together. So Alanis is on Live 105 singing; and if you know it is coming you hear "Who would have thought Web Fingers?" If you didn't know it was there it would just sound like the regular song. It was mixed into the vocals and music really well. Oh man we would double over. You had to listen really closely to hear it. We would all DIE laughing when he played it. The female vocalist did a perfect job. It was a totally inside joke. He (and we) never ever mentioned it. Listeners never called to ask about it. I don't know if the boss ever knew.

OK here's more.

Once at 105 we ran a live feed of a Smashing Pumpkins show. They are one of my favorite bands so since Web was on after me I tuned in on the way home and listened. As with most live shows the band did a little tuning up and soundchecking after the first song or two. As they are tuning guitars there was a little quiet part of the show. You can hear the crowd yelling out things etc.

Then I hear a voice waaay in the background but loud and clear yells out "tell a funny joke!" It was quick and short and you had to pay attention to hear it but there it was. Web had turned on the mike and moved way back in the studio and yelled it out as if he was at the show. Think of all those taping the show at home and the bootlegs of it recorded off 105 with Web telling the band to tell a funny joke! Man it killed me.

Then one time we were doing a remote at Shoreline. It was BFD or Lollapalooza, or something. Anyway Hole were playing. All day Web was saying on the air how he wanted to interview Courtney Love. Of course that wasn't gonna happen. She was not going to make herself avail. for anything like that. She was not a nice person.

Anyway I was on the air at the end of the day and Web had a remote mike wandering around. He was just being his goofy self doing interviews and trying to find people to talk to. He ran into a woman he knew and says come to him live on the air. So I introduced "Web and his very special guest." He proceeds to interview "Courtney" asking how the show is, and just stupid softball questions you always hear. "Courtney" is playing it great, all spaced out and sounding loaded to the sky. Then Web asks Courtney for a kiss she says sure, and he locks lips and he totally hams it up on the air as does she. He tosses it back to me and I am laughing my ass off and throw it to a song (probably Hole) because how can I follow that?

He says to me off the air should we tell people that it wasn't Courtney Love? I say no, we never said it was!
