United Radio Broadcasters Of New Orleans commercial broadcasters getting together

Behind the "evil" of big media are people. More often than not really good people who care about their community. With all the high tech, cell phone text messages, podcasts, satellite radio, etc, you might want to remember to have a good old AM/FM with a crank handle like this. I've got one, it works just fine.

The Globe and Mail: Airwaves offer what authorities cannot:

"Calling themselves the United Radio Broadcasters of New Orleans, member stations of arch-rival companies Entercom and Clear Channel have teamed up to deliver a joint, information-rich broadcast to the people, evacuees and authorities alike, of the Louisiana Gulf Coast.

'It was surprisingly easy,' said Dave Cohen, news director of WWL 870 AM. 'We saw the common cause, we saw the common goal.'

The broadcast, which is transmitted on several local radio stations from Clear Channel's facilities in Baton Rouge, is the only link many residents have with the outside world."
