Sunday on the bay Sturgie or Sharkie?

Spent the day on the Captain Hook from Emeryville Sportfishing. We were on a line from Hunters Point to the Alameda Rockwall out in the bay. We moved a few times but stayed in that area.

They had us fishing with midshipmen and salmon roe and chunked trout. We had a slider with a snap swivel tied onto a snap swivel on the end of the line. The weight went on the slider, the bait hook leader went to the end of the line on the snap swivel. The line was cast out and the weight sat on the bottom the bait below it. The bites were pretty good and hard, see the rod tip move a few times and set the hook hard. Sharks put up a good fight. I got 4 or 5 sharks, some shakers we let go just a foot long or so, and 2 keepers in the box about 15 to 20 lbs. The boat had about 1 per rod avg all leopard sharks. Biggest was about 35 maybe.

Best bite happened on the morning incoming tide on roe. No sturgeon.

Best line(s) of the day: "Maybe it's too early to fish with midshipmen (little fish that live in the mud), it's been a long time since they have seen them."

"Well it's been a long time since they've seen trout too."

photos coming...

How? Where? read this.

You ought to go, it is a fun way to spend some time on the bay. They provide gear, bait, and you just go have fun.
