San Francisco Dakar Rally team interviews

Once again it is Dakar Rally time. It starts next weekend. I have interviewed my friends from San Francisco that have raced there the past few years. Things are a little different this time. My buddy Charlie Rauseo isn't racing this time. Instead his Team Rally Panamerica had 2 top riders heading to Europe and Africa and they both have a good chance of being in the top 5.

The Dakar Rally is 16 days and 5600 miles long. It starts in Lisbon (no longer is it Paris-Dakar) and heads down west Africa to Dakar, Senegal. TV coverage will be daily updates on VERSUS (formerly OLN)

Have a listen to the interviews at the various links below, and root for the local guys. Hey Charlie and the team built the race KTM's in his garage in the Sunset district on San Francisco! His crew work at local motorcycle shops!

here is the is the latest mp3 interview this time the riders speak!

I interviewed Jonah Street and Casey McCoy both are riding the 2007 Dakar Rally for Charlie Rauseo's Team Rally Panamerica.

Jonah talks about riding in the northwest, his training grounds and sand dunes in central Washington, how he hooked up with Charlie, bike testing, and race strategy for the 2007 Dakar. Casey talks about his experience in the Australian Rally, his tryout for the Red Bull team, how he hooked up with Charlie, his plans for being a first timer in the Dakar, and his love of rally riding.

Both phone calls were a little low, I played with the audio and boosted them up. I have the loud obnoxious radio voice, can't change that much!

It's 40 minutes, tell friends enjoy!

email this for the link since the real url is pretty long:

It should also be on the KFOG podcast list at iTunes. (iTunes will open if you have it installed)

I you have a MySpace page you can link to the interviews on your page from mine. I'm not really into MySpace, but I think it is easy to do. I had to really downsize the files so they don't sound as good as the podcast audio, but they are ok.

Also I am going to talk to Dakar rider and mechanic Mike Krynock during the race for more podcasts so feel free to send me questions for him about the race while you watch.

Email me with questions anytime but I'll probably talk to him after Europe, before the dunes, at the rest day, and at the end. I'll post links when the podcasts are up or subscribe to the KFOG thingy at iTunes (see above.)
