John Wayne and John Ford forgotten American Classics

I got my brother this really cool DVD set for his birthday.

It's a collection of John Wayne films directed by John Ford. 2 Great American Film icons.

John Wayne - John Ford Film Collection

The Searchers Ultimate Edition

Stagecoach Two-Disc Special Edition

Fort Apache

She Wore a Yellow Ribbon

The Long Voyage Home

They Were Expendable

3 Godfathers

The Wings of Eagles

I was so tempted to open the box and watch them. I just might order them for myself!

The combination of the 2 is epic. John Wayne's legendary roles and John Ford one of the best directors ever. You never hear people talk about them anymore.

I don't know what it is about John Ford and John Wayne that they've kind of fallen by the wayside.

Maybe they're just too old and there are other things and newer hipper people that have replaced them but these are Great American Classics.

Are they too much associated with a kind of right-wing Republican values? I don't know maybe but they are not necessarily what people think.

A character in some of the films were that way but you know you look at some other John Wayne films that were not right-wing or conservative at all. The values in the films are pretty universal.

The Quiet Man and others weren't the cowboy western conquering kind of films.

John Ford just made great movies that I think a ton of people could relate to.

I think that they should come out of the back pages of history and people should give them another chance with fresh minds and open eyes. John Wayne was definitely a great actor with a lot of character in his characters and I think in his personal life as well. Like Jack Nicholson and others we admire today.

John Ford was one of the best storytellers ever.

The dvd sets at Amazon aren't that expensive and they are on YouTube as well.

These movies are never really seen or released at the movie theaters restoration series showings and they're never really even on TV. Maybe DVD and online is the only way to see them.

They are part of our cultural Lost Classics.

I know my brother is going to enjoy them because he's a big fan.

It's all some Americana from days past.
