KABL 960 is gone "This is 960 The Quake"

The switch happened around noon today. So far I'm just hearing lots of production bits making fun of Bush, using his sound bites and some song parody stuff. Some of it is funny some of it is not. No Air America shows yet. Probably worth taping the production bits if you want to have a Bush bash election party.

92.1 still has KSJO, not running KABL as of 12:23.

  1. It sounds like they are starting to loop the same lefty comedy bits. It will be interesting to see how the left develops itself in the SF market. The talk radio market is loudly conservative, and if the left is going to find a radio voice, this is probably its best chance.

I used to be an all-music listener, but the redundancy and repetition has pushed me into more fluid radio. At least with (some) talk I don’t know what is going to come up next. Once I have heard a song 300 times, whether it’s in a week, month, or year, I generally flip the station when it comes on again. That’s why I can’t listen to a lot of KFOG/Live 105/Alice. I lament the death of edgy, interesting radio.

But through it all, I have been a big fan of Big Rick. If you chose to be at KFOG that is a valuable vote of support in my book. It seems to be the best locally programmed station in the Bay Area. I just wish New Releases Thursday was expanded every day.

Great blog. I just discovered it, and I’ll be back regularly. Thanks Grande.

  2. Air America Radio went live a little after 3 pm today. Naturally, they started with a welcome to the SF market. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. AA has had very mixed results so far, but the Bay Area market could be good for their format.
