I'm still thinking about the the CNN scandal. The reasons why they came out with the story and what it will mean. But remember this.



It is not just CNN and Iraq. It is CNN and other stories. It is probably Fox and Iraq, Reuters and Iraq and everyone else. It is also lots of other situations and stories that news covers. It is just the way things get done sometimes. The local city hall reporter? Buddies with people in city hall. The locals in city hall have to be on as good terms as possible with the press. If you fight the press you lose.



The CNN deal is very slimy and dirty. No doubt they were used by S.H. and used for a long time. While everybody plays the reporting/access game, the deals worked out between CNN and Iraq officials has to be one of the worst. There may be more revelations about the media and Iraq, but other news outlets might not be covering the story for fear of their secrets being revealed.
