OK here are some things NATW (not about the war)
1. I recently got close to 18 mpg (around 360 miles) from a tank of gas in my big 5.4 V8 Ford truck. I think it is rated at something like 14 city and 18 highway. People almost never get close to 18 ever. I average around 15 no matter what. This last tank I was on the highway, didn't tow anything and used cruise control as much as I could. Worked out great. I am trying to use cruise control as much as possibile now. On the crowded freeways around the Bay Area it means I use "coast" quite a lot.
2. I watched the Long Beach GP from the comfort of my couch Sunday. Why didn't I take last week off and be in LA for the AMA Superbike weekend at Fontana and Long Beach for CART? D'oh!
Paul Tracy won. He gets a lot of airtime before during and after CART races. He is the current hot driver but he has less than no personality on camera. When he is interviewed it is like a dim light turned on in a bright room. He hasn't wadded up a car lately but surely he will.
3. This weekend I put a new 30gig HD in this Apple Powerbook 3400. This was bought in 1997 and now it runs OS 9.1, the latest Mozilla build, and even has a Farallon wireless card. It all works fine. It is 6 years old! You can get a pretty loaded 3400 at Ebay for around 250 bills. Pretty good deal if you just want a little wireless puter to plunk around on. Apple Rules.
