Spent the night on the boat at China Camp

I spent Saturday thru Sunday am anchored off China Camp a park in Marin County. The OYC had a get together at McNear's Beach Park next door but no dogs allowed there so I didn't attend.

It was pretty nice on the boat. I had a little inflatable boat to take to shore. It was really just a pool toy boat, but it works OK, but no better than OK.

Had a hotdog dinner and watched "In The Line Of Fire" (Eastwood, Malkovich, Russo) on the AC/DC TV. It wasn't coach, and it wasn't first class, more like business class. Saturday night the wind picked up a little and rolled the boat around, but I still got some sleep.

At first morning light, before sunrise, the dog decided it was time to go ashore and do his business. OK he's the boss. We paddled over and watched the sunrise above Point Pinole and light up San Pablo Bay.

Sunday morning I had some coffee and listened to Acoustic Sunrise on KFOG. What a groovy way to start the day.

About China Camp...

It used to be a working shrimp catching facility. There was a Chinese community of shrimpers that lived there. Now it is a cool little park that features a group of old buildings and has a small museum showing how the shrimpers did their work.

There are a group of volunteers now building a wood replica boat just like the shrimpers used. It is being patterned after a boat found in the San Pablo Bay mud.

The park has exhibits that detail the history of the area, has a snack bar, a pier out into the bay, and it has some cool hiking trails and picnic areas with a great bay view.

For the location, the history, and views, Big Rick Says: Check it out
