Ali Velshi on the CNNfn Money Gang show this am mentioned eating at the Olive Garden. What might have been a pretty good plug turned into a pretty good slam.
He mentioned he was with a small party, (I didn't catch it but maybe it was just 2) and when his bill came he looked at it and noticed the date, the food bill, the tip (15 percent), the total, then another line to enter a tip, then a blank line for the total. An automatic 15 percent tip for a small party? Plus another line for another tip? He mentioned it to the waiter who replied the menu had a notice about the tip included.
Ali said he looked and in very fine print yes it was there. The second tip area was not really explained, and what if you had bad service or food and didn't want to tip the 15 percent what would you do? He mentioned (and viewers emailed) it does not seem to be at all Olive Gardens.
Olive Garden: "When You're Here You're Family"*
*family subject to mandatory 15 percent tip
I wonder if you could enter a negative amount on the second tip line and then subtract :-)
