If you really want to know more get the book Hit Men: Power Brokers and Fast Money Inside the Music Business. It was out of print for a long time, but now seems to be at Amazon.



It is dated a little, the stories are from the 60's to early 90's, but its a good informative read. It names names, bands, radio stations and goes into a lot of detail.
