Radio Ratings are in

and we look at the 2004 Fall San Francisco ratings:

KFOG ranks #4 in the 25-54 demo. That's good, we're very happy. That's all I know about numbers other than 12+ so...

Looking at the 12+ numbers does anything stand out?

KDFC (classical) got some diaries in the hands of Classical fans a big bump from 3.2 to 4.5!

KFRC (oldies) dropped 4.0 to 2.8 and KNBR dropped 3.3 to 1.9. Why? Both had baseball in the summer and now don't. Their fall ratings are in line with the non baseball time of year when teams are not in the playoffs. No big deal.

KQKE (Air America) dropped from a 1.9 to a 1.0 right at the end of the election. That is not good. They should have been doubling their ratings. Why did it happen? Because Air America is shrill, bombastic, and very hard to listen to. Even if you agree with the hosts viewpoints it is not entertaining and not good radio. People like Rush do good radio and entertain the audience that does and does not agree with him. Al Franken stutters and stalls so much on the air it sounds like he makes it up as he goes along. And indeed I think he does. Air America is a good idea, and needed to give a balance to the airwaves, too bad it is awful.

Since I think they pay for most of their airtime the stations that run their shows probably don't care. They already have the money from AA.

That's about it. Everybody else seems inline with previous books. I might post some more later.
