In todays Chronicle is this story:
"Tracy Republican Rep. Richard Pombo has withdrawn his support for a controversial bill that would have let ham radio operators use the rocky Farallon Islands, an undisturbed haven for wildlife."
Well "undisturbed" except for the science research station out there on the main island, and the shipping traffic that passes by, and the fishing boats that hang out there. From the article you might think there are just islands out there, no buildings, no nothing. Untouched by mankind.
Not the case.
It's pretty cool that the Farallones are protected, I think it would be really cool if they could figure out a way for VERY LIMITED access to the islands for the public.
