Radio: Ratings Roth and Raffi

The summer book came out yesterday with the latest rating for the San Francisco market. You can see the 12+ numbers here. But remember this is a big overview. The stations on the top are doing better than the stations on the bottom, but it would be like asking what is the temperature in California. If someone said 75, it would tell you something but not enough.

Truth is nobody uses the 12+ numbers. Advertisers and radio sales depts. break it down to age/sex demos. But these are the only numbers Arbitron lets you see for free.

Looking at 12+ not too many surprises. I just heard a few things in the hallway for the big adult demo 25 to 54. KFOG was 4th, the Bone was 5th. We're pretty happy with that yes indeed. Stern had a good 25-54 book. Didn't hear much more.

Inside Radio, a trade tip sheet, says David Lee Roth is scheduled to start doing dry runs in a radio studio as he gets ready to have some role when Stern leaves to go to Sirius. I said below Diamond Dave getting that gig was bs, but I guess I'm wrong.

Finally KEZR in SJ has new owners and new management. Among other moves there my buddy and afternoon guy King Raffi is out. I think it was mutual. He had a good run there and had good numbers. The King of San Jose afternoons. Hey now he'll never be late for a Sharks game. Besides he is smart enough to have another gig!

Much speculation on all this and more at the ba.broadcast newsgroup.
