Me? I caught 2 good ones today... Finally!
I was at Indian Cove the last 2 days watching people catch fish. I wasn't. I tried to see how long the leaders were, the bait, the casting distance from the shore, all those things to see what was working. If you aren't catching you should figure out why. There were some nice people there, including a woman who nails the fish all day. But I went home with nothing.
Today I went to the store, bought some marshmallows and asked where to go. They said up over the hill by Coot Landing. OK, me and the dog hike it up over the hill. (fishing with a dog is a little like fishing with a kid) I get to Coots and there is one guy on the dock. Ahh mid week fishing...
I rigged up a hook with 2 white Nitro eggs and 1/2 a marshmallow. I cast to the right and get a small fish right away. I rerig and cast to the same area and get a bigger 15 inch fish. The guy on the dock moves to the shoreline. There are also 2 guys on the other shoreline on the other side. They both start catching fish but my rod is quiet. Since the dock kicks you out pretty far in the water these other guys are casting just past the dock, I'm throwing out to the middle of the lake from the dock way past where they are catching.
I reel in and fish closer, and I carefully watch the guys on my right pick up the rod and gently feed line and wait for the fish to take the bait. I reset my line to the right of the dock not out towards the lake and wait. About noon I start to get ready to head home and see what looks like a little tap. I pick up the line (remove the Sponge Bob bobber) and feed out just a little more. Wham the fish takes it and it is another slightly bigger fish around 16 inches.
Done deal! I pack up and hike it home.
Seems like an ok bite where I was, both guys on each side of me caught fish and so did I.
