Saturday night I saw the New Cars and Blondie at Konocti. Great show. I love Blondie's songs. Clem Burke is such a great drummer, and Debbie's voice sounded great. The New Cars were really good as well. They opened with "Hello" and played lots of hits, some album tracks and Todd sang some of his songs. If they come to your town or come back check 'em out.
4) Tuesday was calm and beautiful. I spent the day on the water catching some Clear lake bass and some really big bluegill. They are everywhere!
5) Wednesday
I tried to find the spot on the "East Branch Russian River" where people catch trout. Saw some nice places, but no fish. Maybe next time.
6) Thursday
I went out with guide Bob Myskey and my friend Em came up to fish with me. He caught the big toad, a nice 8 lber!
7) Friday
I went out on my own and caught some more all on a wacky rigged drop shot with a Margarita Mutilator Roboworm. A what you say? Check the links.
So many rigs, so little time...
All fish were released right where we caught them. Cause we're nice guys...
8) Saturday I watchd the speed water ski competition. Crazy people hanging on to a 200 ft ski rope tucked in wearing crash helmets and almost as much protective gear as Barry Bonds getting towed behing big block V8 speed boats.
Check out this SFGate.com article on a 74 year old woman who speed skis at Clear Lake.
Cool.
Saturday night I went to the Lakeport Speedway for their races that included BCRA Midgets and Vintage Midgets. I love open wheel Migdet racing, so going was a no brainer.
Cool x 2
9) Sunday was a day of packing up and coming home. What a week.
Late Sunday afternoon is a great time to drive the Napa valley. As good as it is bad to drive on a Saturday afternoon. It is peaceful and beautiful.
Soon I realized I was back in the bay area as I got off 29 and merged onto 80 in Vallejo. Drivers swooping all over, really angry (but they would deny it) people with bumperstickers about something or other plastered all over their cars most bitching about something, and everybody rushing to go somewhere. I was towing a boat back so I was happy to cruise at 55 to 60 in the slow lane and check out the madness. I wondered how the momma duck with the 6 ducklings was doing. They spent the week swimming around the cove I was staying at. I could see a change in them from the start of the week to the end. Momma duck was teaching them to swim, every day they would have to go a little faster stay in the pack. Momma would look over her shoulder and anybody not in line would get a quack or 2 to pick it up.
People living up in Lake County are living the good life. It's on my 10 year plan for sure.
