KABOOM 2007

Hey that was a fun day. Thanks to the people who paid money this year to join us on the pier. It was pretty full! Ozomatli were great. I know they have lots of fans here, and when you see them live they convert you to a fan if you are not. They are a really tight really fun latin rock band.

Guster are just awesome at the jangly guitar thing. And they pull it off well live. They even did a fun cover of the song "Watercolor of Brazil" hey you'd know it if you heard it.

Then Kenny Wayne Shepherd brought the rock. Man what a cool guitar player. Stevie Ray Vaughn + Hendrix + Freddie King. He did a great solo guitar version on "Soulshine."
(here's a Real Audio version of the song by Govt. Mule)

He tore it up.

I was stage announcing for KWS and after the show so I just hung out during his set. When he was done I said thanks on the PA then the stage crew JAMMED to clear the bands equipment, I just stayed outta the way. Next thing you know there were chairs set up on the stage, beers were in hand and everybody, stage crew, the bands, and more were on stage oohing and ahhing to the fireworks. And yes even famous musicians take pictures of Kaboom with their cell phones!

Our Kaboom 2007 wrap up page with video of the fireworks is here.

Here's the results of a Flickr search with Kaboom keyword.

I wore my "We Believe" t-shirt that I bought Friday in Alameda at the place that started it all, located right where my favorite gym, Iron Island used to be. (sob sob that it is gone) But if you want a "real" We Believe" shirt go to the Hawaiian Drive Inn on Encinal right off Park.

Post Kaboom I got home in 20 minutes (yes with the 80 to 580 detour). Normal time for any time, really good for Kaboom traffic. How did I do it? Ahh the beauty of a motorcycle...

I got home in time to watch the rebroadcast of the De La Hoya vs Mayweather fight. I thought it was pretty good. Oscar fought hard and maybe the score should have been closer in his favor. Here's hoping for a rematch!
