Warriors go out livin' the Thug Life

In just a few days I've gone from "I Believe" to "I Want To Believe." Fox Mulder would be proud I guess...

Phew, that was a nasty last qtr of the last game of the playoff run for the Golden State Warriors.

I thought our team fell apart (duh) and then turned into thugs as the game ended. If you play like that at any other time I could see it. Early in a game, early in a playoff series, you are trying to set a tone. But at the end of the game (actually while you are still in it and have a chance to win) to play like they did, throwing cheap shot fouls, getting technical fouls, and all on top of playing lousy, man it looked bad.

As a Warriors fan (and former 1/3 season ticket holder) the history of s***head players is a little too close in our brain cells.

But this year, hey I was a fan again for the last half of the season, it was fun, but not a good ending.

CW Nevius called me yesterday to talk about. I made the paper today. His article is here.

Warriors as losers -- ugly side of sports

A few things.

1. Utah was flopping a little, not quite World Cup Soccer flopping, but they were acting a little.

2. Still it was thug-y of the G-Dubs to play that way.

3. More painful since all they were doing at the end of the game was coming down court and tossing up a wild 3 about 5 seconds into the 24 second clock. That shot would brick, as Charles Barkley correctly predicted they would, then we don't get a rebound, and Utah does and scores and/or the G Dubs throw a cheap shot foul. All this started while we were still in the game! Later it got really ugly when it was clear we weren't going to win.

4. Now I remember why I soured on the NBA a few years ago.

5. Baseball is too boring to watch. As my friend so correctly stated. "It's like 4 minutes of action jam packed into 3 1/2 hours."

"Ball 2" Oh please... I could go fishing instead of watching a game, and then, hey, I'd be fishing!

6. Summer is a great time to go fishing, throw some topwater in the morning and deep crankbaits later in the day. Ever had a lunker blow up on a zara spook at 7am? Do you even know what I am talking about?

7. I hope the 49ers were right in not drafting a qb. I don't have as much faith in Mr. Smith as they do. But I'm open to Hopin'.

8. Same thing for the 9ers and the running back.

9. Once again the Raiders will be interesting. JaMarcus could be Rook of Da year. Let him start from game one. I'll be watching closely from section 212.

10. Number of times I saw Randy Moss out jump anybody for a ball or beat anyone with his speed at a Raider home game in all the time he was here: zero. Buh Bye! (What are the Pats thinking?!)

11. NFL starts Aug. 5th. I love football like Toby Keith loves his bar!
