Ok here they are.
Best CD
Pretty tough call but I am going for "Dylanesque" Bryan Ferry.
Because? Brian Ferry doesn't make enough music, and I met him once. Hmm those aren't very good reasons. How about I liked all of it.
Best Song
"Rehab" Amy Winehouse
I glad she's not my daughter or sister or 16th cousin in law. I hope she gets it together in her real life, and I love her sound.
Best Concert
ZZ Top The Warfield 11/4
My pick because if they play in your town any year, it was probably the best concert of the year.
Best Movie
Halloween
I didn't see any of the movies on our list. Not because I am a movie snob, but because movies mostly suck and I sit there thinking "Man what a rip off paying 10 dollars for this boring crap and 4.50 for stale popcorn then 3.50 for a D C" and the dumb film can't end soon enough. PS3 > Movies any day!
I will see Halloween done by Rob Zombie on dvd, then I can watch it while I have my own popcorn (with m&m's mixed in, extra napkins please.) Ohh how about a Halloween video game directed by Rob Zombie! That would be the best!
Hey the Rob Zombie Ozzy concert was pretty good this year...

Book of the Year
Freedom: Credos from the Road by Sonny Barger
Freedom offers practical advice as it outlines the rules he's learned to live by:
"Treat me good, I'll treat you better. Treat me bad, I'll treat you worse."
"Don't take shit from your enemies that you'd never take from your friends."
"Commit yourself -- there's no reverse gear on a motorcycle."
Ok this didn't come out this year, it is 2 years old. But it is the best book I read this year, and one of the best ever.
On a motorcycle ride this summer with a friend he asked me if I read this book. I said no. He said "Rick it is everything you believe in one book you have to read it."
That sounded silly to me but I liked Sonny's other books, so I picked it up.
Damn it is just about everything I believe in. Sonny nails it. I tell people about it, and everyone who reads it comes away impressed. Forget all that new age hoo haw crap. Tell Dr. Phil to stick it. Check out Sonny Barger's take on life. He's lived more than any self help book author out there ever will. Here's how Sonny's advice compares to famous tv dads.
