Fantasy Fishing

(No it isn't a dream of catching fish with neekid women)

Ohh it is spring (well almost) and the baseball players and their supplements are in Spring Training. One of the biggest things going these days is fantasy baseball. You get to assemble your own team and their individual stats count to make up the results for your team. Each player has a value based on their performance and a spending limit keeps you from picking all the best players.

I don't talk about fishing on the air much cause really who cares?! But I still go and still find it to be a great outdoor activity. It is also a pretty big "real" sport. Meaning sponsors, prize money and competition and tv coverage. Who watches those fishing shows on tv? ME!

One of the latest thing going is, wait for it, Fantasy Bass Fishing! No really! Just like baseball and football you assemble a team, pick players, and see how you do against others.

So I'm in at ESPN's BASS Challenge Fantasy Fishing and the first tournament is this weekend.

Much like how I always pick the 49ers and Raiders in the football pool, I also pick mostly California guys in the fishing tournaments.

So (like anone cares) here are my picks for my team "ClearLake BigRickToad"

Skeet Reese from Auburn. Skeet spends lots of time on my "home water" of Clear Lake, just an amazing and BASS record holding fishery. But the big tv tournament won't make a west coast swing this year. It is all back east.

Ish Monroe from Phoenix. Ish grew up in San Francisco! How amazing is that?! He lived near and fished on the Delta, as well as Clear Lake.

Jared Lintner is from Arroyo Grande and has also spent time on Clear Lake water winning tournaments.

Those 3 guys took up lots of the points I could spend, so I picked a few locals since the tournament this weekend is in South Carolina.

Casey Ashley and Todd Auten are my last 2.

Will I win? I don't know, maybe. I just like rooting for the west coast guys. I really like Ish. On tv shows he always comes across as a really positive guy, and he can really fish.

Go Ish!
