hopefully everybody
This election is so close. All the polls I look at ended up in close to an electoral college tie.
My guess?
Well I live in Oakland, work in San Francisco, and am employed by a part of the entertainment industry. Everything I am exposed to is anti Bush. Just today at my KFOG email somebody sent me some photoshop anti Bush ad. I guess it was funny. I didn't look. I deleted it. That stuff is never funny to me.
The Bush bashing got old about 3 years ago. Just as the Clinton jokes and bashing got old pretty fast as well.
I just tune it out.
By from my spot in the world it would be a Kerry landslide. Most of the people near me would not understand why anybody would vote for Bush. It really is a recall day for G.W. more that a Kerry election.
When the results are in you'll see Alameda and San Francisco counties go huge for Kerry. As you head out from these areas you start to see Bush signs on the lawns but not many.
The Chronicle's Matier and Ross wrote this about the East West political split in California.
So my world is a different world than lots of people. Different, but not right or wrong. Such is the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.
There will be alot of things to deal with for the next president. A group of religious extremists wants to kill us all. North Korea and Iran will make the world nervous. Iraq will have elections in Jan. of next year and I am guessing they will elect somebody who will proceed to encourage the troops of all nations to leave asap.
I think Kerry would do ok as President. Who voted for Bush in 2000 because he was the best leader to face an international crisis and lead us into war? Nobody did.
I would hope the elected President would rise to the challenge of the position. I think Bush did and Kerry would. But I worry as much about the split in our own country.
I see the red and blue maps of the USA and I wonder with the crying still going on over 2000, and the very nasty words spoken leading up to today can we unite?
Will the loser and their party concede and not sue? It doesn't seem likely but we can hope.
Here are some wise words from Instapundit:
ELECTION DAY REMINDERS: Let's get a couple of things out of the way before today's votes are counted.
You have the right to vote. You do not have the right to see the man of your choice in the White House.
If George W. Bush wins the election, the world will still spin on its axis. Canada will not grant you asylum. If John Kerry wins the election, America will still be America. Australia will not grant you asylum.
People who vote for the other guy aren't stupid, brainwashed, or evil. They are your friends and family. Someone you love will almost certainly cancel your vote. (My wife cancels out mine.)
If, by some chance, everyone you know votes for the loser it won't mean the election was stolen. It will only show that you live in a bubble.
If this thing is close (the victor could easily win by 0.1 percent) try not to read too much into it. We'll still be closely divided.
If the election doesn't go your way, don't pop off as though America were Guatemala under the generals. You'll get lots of attention, but it won't be the kind you want. People will laugh, not near you but at you.
